In 2017, after moving my family to the heart of the Bible Belt, something extraordinary happened to my faith in God.
It vanished.
It was a gradual process, but I ended up without a shred of belief left in God. I had become an atheist. This was hard for me to open up about at first, but once I did, I noticed something strange. People weren't interested in why. They never asked. They wanted to make up reasons for me, and didn't care to hear about what had actually caused my doubts. They started giving me answers to questions that I wasn't even asking. They treated me like they already knew where I was coming from, and jumped to all the wrong conclusions.
They weren't really listening.
But, I'm still a social being. Despite my best wishes, I desperately needed this interaction. So, after a year of silently hiding my beliefs, I decided to start blogging about my experiences instead. Maybe then, people would finally take the time to read what I had to say, and if they didn't, at least I finally had a chance to share.
And this is how The Disillusioned Frog was born. I started blogging with my deconversion story, so people could understand where I was coming from, before jumping to conclusions about me.
